Serving the Industry through Testing, Investigation, Evaluation, & Research

x-ray diffraction of crystalline materials is an important tool in our everyday investigation which is an essential component of many petrographic analyses

XRD laboratory

CMC houses a Siemens X-ray Powder Diffractometer that runs on theta-two theta geometry with copper K-alpha radiation. Pulverized samples are used for detection of various crystalline phases. XRD is used for cement and clinker analyses, detection of various salts in efflorescence deposits, mortar testing, detection of various unsound constituents in concrete and aggregate, and many other uses.

We also have a bench-top Rigaku Miniflex Unit that can run six samples simultaneously - a perfect companion to its big brother.
